Making a gift from the kitchen teaches cooking and measuring skills and the packaging of the item encourages creativity. Swedish pancakes is a favorite meal in our family. Here's a way to make a Swedish Pancake mix and package to give as gifts.
First, with a permanent marker on a re-sealable sandwich bag write "Swedish Pancake Mix" Combine in a blender with the mix 2 cups milk 3 TBLS melted butter 3 eggs Fry on a hot griddle
Fill the bag with 1 1/2 cups of flour and 3 TBLS sugar to make the mix.
Swedish Pancake Mix Ingredients
Choose a basket to hold the mixes and add ribbon or decorations.
You can also put the mix in holiday colored plastic containers and make labels with the directions. Or, you might want to use recycled glass jars for the mix and add a picture of the giver or a personal note.
Packaged Swedish Pancake Mix
An older child can expand the gift by offering to make the Swedish Pancakes as a special meal. If you are not using the prepackaged mix, then add all of the ingredients to a blender when making the pancakes. 1 1/2 cups flour 3 TBLS sugar 2 cups milk 3 TBLS melted butter 3 eggs
This family treat tastes great with maple syrup, applesauce, lingonberries, or peanut butter spread on top of the pancakes.
