Sign Picture
May, 2002 - Debi Dutton

Mother’s Day idea…..simple, kid proof, inexpensive, easy, impressive, and so appreciated.

  • You will need an acrylic sign holder that allows you to see both sides that can purchased at an office supply store.
  • For one side of the holder you will need a picture of Mom. This is best drawn by a child or you can use a photo of Mom and child. Decorate around the picture and write Happy Mother’s Day.
  • On the other side, a child will write something about his mother. This can be handwritten, computer written, or for a young child dictated to an adult to write. Here is a sample of information you might want to include:

Her name is _______. She’s pretty as a ______. She is _____ years old. She has _______ eyes and _______hair. She weighs ______ pounds and is ______ tall. Her favorite food is _______. Her favorite TV show is _________. Her favorite store to shop is __________. What keeps her busy in the home is __________. I think Mom is funny when she ______. But I know she's really angry when _______. Her favorite drink is ____________. Mom likes to sing to her favorite song _________. When Mom isn’t at home she likes to go to __________. I love my Mom because _______.

  • Place this two-sided sign on the kitchen counter for Mother’s Day or next to her place at the table. It will make a wonderful memory for years.

My friend Charlie, age 2 ½, drew the picture in the photo and this is his story about Mom as dictated to me. Keep these memories……..

My mom is the most wonderful mom in the world! Her name is Sarah. She is - I don’t know how old. She has black eyes and brown hair. She weighs 2 pounds and is this tall. Her favorite TV show is Scooby-Doo. What keeps her busy in the home is cleaning. I know she's really angry when I take my Easter stuff. Her favorite drink is juice. When Mom isn’t at home she likes to go shopping.

I love my Mom this big.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!
